Research Statement:

Relating to the political aspects of everyday life, I aim to create a discourse between space and place that explores notions of absence in the wider urban realm using non-place as a starting point. Particularly important are two concepts, the first relates to territory and borders, and the other to non-place and placelessness.

My practice is about exploring these relationships and uses installation, expanded sculpture and site-specific work through a variety of media. Photography, video and sound are used both as documentation and medium. Particularly important is the use of temporary and ephemeral interventions to locate, re-locate and re-contextualise territory referencing what could be, what might be or what has been.

This is a practice led PhD and runs alongside my work as a practicing artist.
